NVSS COVID RULES

Revised March 2024

The CDC has issued new respiratory disease guidelines. Previous NVSS Covid Rules (Guidelines) are rescinded and replaced by what follows:

No player will come to the playing field if they are feeling ill or feeling different from what is their normal state of health, especially if they are experiencing fever (or feeling feverish), chronic or persistent cough, shortness of breath, or recent loss of sense of taste or smell. A negative at home rapid antigen covid test will not allow a player who has symptoms to play that day.

If during pre-game activities or during a game a player begins to feel ill, they must immediately remove themselves from the playing area and advise their manager.

Players who test positive for Covid may not play in NVSS games until they are without fever for at least 24 hours taking no fever lowering medications and must have other symptoms improving. Upon return, they are not required to wear a mask, but should be cognizant of maintaining their distance from remaining players for the next five days.

Any player who tests positive for COVID-19 must immediately notify their manager; their manager should then notify the First Vice President as soon as possible.

For players exposed to Covid, there is no longer any requirement to wear a mask.

Should such players subsequently develop any fever or covid symptoms in the following 5 days, they should assume they have Covid. They must refrain from playing in NVSS games and may only return when they are without fever for at least 24 hours taking no fever lowering medications and must have other symptoms improving.

In the interim they should consider taking a rapid antigen test and contacting their healthcare provider concerning the need for Paxlovid if the test is positive. Upon returning, they are not required to wear a mask but should be cognizant of maintaining their distance from remaining players for the next five days.
